Five CU Students Abducted on Way Back from Biju Festival in Khagrachhari

IPNEWS, Khagrachhari: Five Indigenous students from the University of Chittagong were reportedly abducted early this morning while returning from the Biju Festival. The incident occurred today (16 April 2025) around 6:30 AM in the Giriful area of Khagrachhari, where the terrorists allegedly kidnapped the students along with the driver of their local vehicle.
The abducted students have been identified as: Maitrimoy Chakma, Faculty of Fine Arts (session 2023-24), Dibbyo Chakma, Department of Theatre Studies (session 2023-24), Rishon Chakma, Department of International Relations (session: 2023-24), Longngi Mro, Department of Zoology ( Session 2023-24), Aldrin Tripura, Faculty of Fine Arts ( Session: 2023-24).
According to Rumen Chakma, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Hill Students’ Council (Parbatya Chattagram Pahari Chhatra Parishad – PCP), the students had traveled to Baghaichhari to participate in the Biju celebrations. On their way back through Khagrachhari, members of the UPDF (Prasit Group) allegedly intercepted their vehicle and abducted all six individuals, including the driver.
“We strongly condemn this incident,” said Rumen Chakma. “We demand the immediate and unconditional release of the abducted students in safe condition.”
The incident has sparked widespread outrage on social media, particularly among Jumma students and members of the conscious community, who are demanding swift action and justice.
