IPNEWS BD: It has been reported that an indigenous Chakma woman (35) was attempted to rape by a Rohingya refugee in Palangkhali Union of Ukhia Upazila of Cox’s Bazar district.
The name of the accused Rohingya who attempted to rape is: Chayadul Islam, son of Sultan Ahmed, address- Camp No.11, Block-D-4, Ukhia Upazila, Palangkhali Union.
According to local sources, the victim was going to work in a banana plantation in the morning in her village, ‘Telkhola Chakma Para’ of Ward No.6 of Palangkhali Union, Ukhia Upazila. At that time, Rohingya refugee Chayadul Islam, who was already lying in wait, stopped her and tried to rape her by holding her (the victim) face with his hand. After a while of struggling, when she managed to remove the rapist’s hand from her face, she started screaming and immediately hearing the screams, the locals came there and rescued her. The locals were also able to catch the Rohingya Chayadul Islam who was trying to rape the woman.
It is reported that the villagers have now handed Chayadul Islam over to police custody.
